The philanthropic purpose of FRIENDS OF NEUROSURGERY INTERNATIONAL, INC. (FONSI) is to upgrade the treatment of brain and spine disease by providing neurosurgical treatment, medical equipment, supplies and physician medical education and training in the US third world or underdeveloped countries.

The mission of the organzation is to "save one life at a time."
